My Washer Sings To Me

One of the reasons I love it here: in every electronic aspect of my Korean life, I never encounter annoying buzzers. For example:

My washer sings a song to me when the time is up
The school bell plays a peppy piano tune
My alarm sings the 'good morning' song from 'Singin in the Rain' to me at 7am
My cell phone chimes when I receive a text message

Maybe this is why Koreans are generally happier than Americans. They don't open their washer or dryer door one minute before the time is up in order to avoid the "YOUR CLOTHES ARE DONE" screech, they don't wince when the bell tells them that their class is over, and they don't scream at their alarm and throw it across the room when it goes off in the morning.

Or maybe they're happier because guns are illegal here. Non sequitur, but true.

  2. i don't know, My dad brought me back a singing penguin alarm clock from Japan and it made me die a little inside every time it went off. maybe its because trumpets and morning don't mix. also yay for your blog, i miss the cute things you say!
